Q. What is Cessna’s distribution plan for the new Columbia aircraft?
A. Cessna will be utilizing its worldwide network of CSTARs (Cessna Sales Team Authorized Representative) to promote and sell the new Cessna 350 and Cessna 400 products as soon as the final sale of the Columbia assets to Cessna is completed.
Q. Will my Columbia warranty be honored?
A. Yes, your new Cessna warranty will be honored by Cessna. However, the process to apply for warranty has changed from what you do today. Cessna has designated 14 of its currently authorized Service Stations who are also CARMA facilities, as clearing houses for your parts and warranty needs. They are experienced with both Cessna and Columbia business processes. If your maintenance provider is not one of these 14 facilities, please have them work with them to process your warranty transactions. A list of these 14 facilities is included as a pdf download.
Q. Where do I take my aircraft for service?
A. It has always been Cessna’s position that your best value for aircraft service is through our authorized Service Station network. Cessna has an established set of criteria for certifying these facilities and reevaluates them yearly to ensure you get a consistent level of professional support. Currently, 14 of Cessna’s authorized Service Stations are also in the CARMA network. They have been instructed to act as clearing houses for parts and warranty needs for the remaining CARMA network. Cessna is giving those remaining CARMA’s 90 days to complete an application to join the Cessna authorized network. Once they are approved as a Cessna authorized facility, you can be assured they have Cessna’s direct backing as they provide your service needs. Q. Why is Cessna changing the names of the aircraft?
A. Cessna will market the former Columbia aircraft as the Cessna 350 and the Cessna 400. We feel it’s very important for Cessna customers to enjoy a seamless, high quality experience throughout our entire product line – from the SkyCatcher all the way up to the Citation X. It only makes sense that we fully embrace these two new aircraft and their owners as members of the Cessna family.
Q. What happens to NGP?
A. Cessna is firmly committed to sustaining our leadership and growing our strength in this important segment of the market. Our marketing and engineering teams are already hard at work to bring you new products and services to meet the desires of our customers. This includes new designs in the propeller line both above and below the new Cessna 350 and Cessna 400.
Q. Will Cessna be making changes to the airframe and/or systems?
A. Not immediately. Over the course of the next year we will integrate the current aircraft into our manufacturing and support processes. We will evaluate and plan for any changes we think would help improve quality, increase reliability, improve manufacturability, and provide greater customer satisfaction. It is too early to determine what specific changes this might include.
Q. Will Cessna still offer factory training for the aircraft?
A. Yes. Training will still be provided at the factory in Bend, Oregon.
Q. Does Cessna intend to update any technical publications?
A. Your current publications from Columbia are still valid until revised from Cessna. The current Columbia website will be taken offline shortly, so, as you need replacement publications they may be ordered through the Cessna Service Station network. Cessna will begin evaluating the existing publications and a plan will be formed to merge them into the family of Cessna Manuals and Service Information.
