To that end, we play an active role in furthering programs that help the communities in which we have facilities. We value programs that take a creative approach to fundamental issues such as education, neighborhood improvement, youth development, environmental conservation and preservation of the arts. At Cessna, we are committed to help build and perpetuate healthy and vibrant communities for our people.
Cessna United Friendship Fund
The Cessna United Friendship Fund (CUFF) was established in 1955 for the purpose of pooling contributions from all Cessna employees to more effectively support charities, social service and welfare organizations addressing community issues.
One such example is Cessna's long-standing tradition of donating to the United Way. Over the last 50 years, Cessna and its employees have donated more than $36 million.
Holiday Giving
During the holiday season, Cessnans come together to support an array of charities and projects. Whether it's a Thanksgiving Food Drive, participating in Toys for Tots or stuffing a bus for the local women's crisis centers, Cessna employees take their responsibility of giving back to the community seriously.
Citation Special Olympics Airlift
Cessna began the Citation Special Olympics Airlift, the world's largest peacetime airlift, in 1987. In July 2010 we will once again transport athletes to the summer U.S.A. Food Drive
Since 1990, Cessnans have made it a priority to support the Kansas Food Bank to help ensure that "No Kansan goes hungry." Cessnans have contributed over a 9,484,000 food through a variety of activities.
Habitat for Humanity
In 2008, Cessnans came together to work with Habitat for Humanity in building three homes. One house was sponsored by the Cessna Management Association (CMA), one by Cessna Aircraft Company and one by Jack and Rose Pelton completed in approximately 30 days.
Blood Drives
2009 was a successful year for blood drives at the Wichita facility. Cessnans helped save 1,338 lives.
Cessna Penguin Cove
The Cessna Penguin Cove debuted in May 2007 at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kan. The attraction makes the Sedgwick County Zoo one of only a handful in the United States to house Humboldt penguins.
